Chemical Peels:
THE PERFECT DERMA™ PEEL

Chemical peels exfoliate dead skin cells, revealing a more youthful and vibrant complexion. Our practitioners help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin discoloration, promoting healthier and smoother skin. With varying depths, chemical peels can be tailored to meet individual skin needs, offering minimal downtime for lighter peels and significant rejuvenation for deeper treatments.

About The Perfect Derma Peel

What it is

Chemical peels are exfoliating solutions customized for different skin types. Our practitioners incorporate various active ingredients to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal a new layer of skin. Depending on the peel's depth, different skin layers will be targeted, and the application process may vary. Superficial skin peels are applied in layers and left on your skin, unlike deeper chemical peels that are timed and removed. The strength of a superficial peel is controlled by the number of layers applied.

Key Benefits of Chemical Peels

  • Exfoliation: Removes dead skin cells to reveal a fresher layer of skin.

  • Rejuvenation: Stimulates the growth of healthier skin cells.

  • Customizable: Tailored to different skin types and concerns.

  • Youthful Appearance: Helps achieve a radiant and youthful complexion.

  • Minimal Downtime: Light peels offer quick recovery, while deeper peels provide significant benefits with manageable downtime.

How it Works

A chemical peel involves applying a chemical solution to your face to remove damaged skin cells and stimulate a fresher, younger-looking complexion. When the dull, damaged surface layer of your skin is removed, new, healthier cells grow in its place. Different types of chemical peels use various acids, some stronger than others. Our practitioners will help you understand the differences and suggest the peel that works best for your skin type and concerns.

Summary of the Benefits of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels effectively exfoliate dead skin cells, revealing a more youthful, radiant complexion. By removing the dull, damaged surface layer, these treatments stimulate the growth of healthier skin cells, resulting in a fresher and more rejuvenated appearance.

What to Expect

On average, a chemical peel can take between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the type of peel and the number of layers applied. During the application, you may feel a warming sensation. Light peels generally require little to no downtime, while medium and deep peels may require a few weeks to recover. It is essential to avoid the sun and active skincare ingredients (retinol, vitamin C, etc.) until your skin is fully healed.

 FAQs

What do I need to know about my post peel appointment?

  • The peel solution should remain on the treated area for at least six hours, during which, you will not wash, touch or apply any products, even sunscreen. You’ll be advised if use of the Post-Peel Moisturizer is appropriate for you to use after six hours. Some patients may be advised to keep the peel solution on into the evening or even overnight.

From here onwards, the Post-Peel Moisturizer may be applies 2-3 times per day as needed to calm any irritation, although best results are achieved if no moisturizer is used until peeling begins around day three. If additional irritation occurs, you may apply a cold compress.

  • The treated area may appear to be darker and skin may feel tight. After a gentle wash and dry, you’ll use the first Post-Peel Towelette and leave solution on for 50 minutes. Then apply the Mineral Protection SPF 30, and if you desire, your usual make-up.

DAY 2, evening. About an hour before bedtime, you’ll gently wash and dry the treated area. Apply the second Post-Peel Towelette and leave the solution on overnight.

  • During the peeling process, avoid activities that cause sweating, including saunas, time in the sun, and exercise. Once peeling begins, use the Post-Peel Moisturizer 2-3 times per day. This should relieve skin tightness and control peeling. Your practitioner will have more detailed directions on use of the moisturizer as it varies over ethnicities.

For best results, skin must naturally peel; do not pick or rub the peeling skin as scaring is a possibility.

Morning and evening, cleanse gently, and apply the Post-Peel Moisturizer. The Mineral Protection SPF 30 should be used every two hours during any sun exposure.

  • Generally, the peeling process is completed, although a few more days of mild sloughing remain. Continue to use sunscreen.
